As Crimson Justice takes it to Frankie the Beak and his crime organization, his arch nemesis Dr. Mayhem plots his demise. But the reality of who Mayhem is will shake John to his core.
Ice Bathes and Toxins
This story hits a new high as we not only get the Crimson Justice, but also the reveal of the identity of Dr. Mayhem. Frank Tieri does a masterful job of giving us the story of the old beatdown superhero and everything that goes along with that. The vulnerability of our hero brings realism to the story and makes the reader feel a special kind of bond with him. Then the reveal of Dr. Mayhem, well it makes sense, also catches the reader by surprise because you don’t want to accept who it is.
The art in this issue is stunning and really captures the essence of the story. Inaki Miranda does an excellent job of bringing Empire City to life and making sure the reader is truly engaged in the world. The depiction of the aged Crimson Justice shows the reader the stark reality of the shape John is in as an older and fighting crime. Eva De La Cruz matches the art perfectly with the color choices, well mixing in the perfect amounts of reds as always to match the crimson name.
