Bait for a Kaiju

Jacen and Rumi survive their encounter with the massive leeches in the ocean. After they discover that the leeches feed off Kai-Sei powers and weaken the Kaiju that they feed off. Rumi wants to destroy the leeches, but Commander Riviera wants to use them to wage war against Godzilla. As the team tries to bait Godzilla into trap; they get taken over by a group of Pirates. Unfortunately for the G-Force and the pirates, the leeches have become monstrous and it’s time to feed.

The Hidden Hand

Godzilla #2 picks up where issue one left off and continues to reveal more about this new Kai-Sei Era. Benito Cereno does an excellent job of rolling out the new rules to this world. Revealing elements as we go along, while still holding some secrets back, which builds up an excitement for what’s to come. The somewhat mysterious element of the story so far leaves a world of possibilities. Cereno is doing a fantastic job of rolling out this Kai-Sei Era.

The art in this issue is awesome and has a very modern feel to it. Nikola Čižmešija creates some awesome Kaiju and his character designs are fantastic. He also does an exceptional job of bringing this post G-Day world to life. The color selections give the art a unique aesthetic and really make the art pop off the page.

Final Thoughts

Godzilla #2 continues to reveal more of the Kai-Sei Era, while still holding onto some secrets to be revealed. The action is big and threatening, while the internal conflicts have shown that this series will be deeper than expected.
