The Return of the Shredder
A stakeout is taking place outside of a cults compound in NYC, when an old man stumbles upon the building. The old man enters the building and proceeds to take out a bunch of the cult members, before meeting his match against the leader. The old man is taken into custody where it is revealed that he is Oroku Saki, better known as the Shredder. The agent cuts a deal with Shredder to help them take down the cult. But can you truly trust the former leader of the Foot Clan?
Back From the Dead
This is a great first issue of this TMNT spinoff series. Dan Watters does an amazing job of bringing back one of the most iconic villains of all time. Watters does an even better job of putting Shredder in a new situation that we haven’t seen him in, the role of anti-hero. The book wastes very little time on bringing the reader up to speed and moves at a great pace. My only detraction is Shredder’s refusal to take the new high-tech gear they provided him with. However, depending on where the story goes next this can become a non-issue.
The art in this book is tremendous and looks like an updated version of the cartoon animation. Michele Bandini does an excellent job of making the art his own, well at the same time paying tribute to the classic style. The new character design for Shredder is really cool and is a welcome upgrade to an iconic character. Marco Lesko compliments the art perfectly with his color choices for this book.

The book is updated and new but still gives the familiar feeling that fans from the original series will still feel at home with. This series has the potential for various developments and directions.
