Bengali Lives

The ThunderCat’s are nursing the recently found Bengali back to health. This triggers Cheetara to give her history with Bengali and how she has become the leader she is today. As Bengali regains consciousness and starts to explain some of what has happened to him, Tygra shows his discomfort and jealousy of Cheetara’s former beau. But they don’t have much time to dwell as Slythe, his son, and their new bird allies are on their way to find the Cats.

As the Knights of Thundera, with their lates addition Bengali, meet the foes on the battlefield. It is soon discovered that this is an ambush and setup. The Cats who had rushed in with not much of a plan, find themselves outnumbered and in danger of losing this fit. However, the day is saved for the Knights, as an unknown Thuderean Warrior enters the battle and turns the tide. The stranger carries the Book of Omens and reveals himself as none other than Apex.

Apex has Arrived

ThunderCats #17 ups the emotional ante, well at the same time delivering tremendous action and an awesome reveal. Declan Shalvey really takes the story to the next level, continuing to build this amazing world along the way. Shalvey has really mastered the world of the ThunderCats and with this new lore has really brought the franchise to a new level of prominence. The pacing of this issue, much like the series, is just phenomenal.

The art in this series is just incredible and never disappoints. Drew Moss has done a masterful job of bringing Third Earth to life, as well as making the characters jump off the page. From the character design to the tinniest detail in the background, Moss really puts on an art clinic. Not to be outdone, Martina Pignedoli makes the art pop out of every panel with the amazing color selections.

ThunderCats #17 is yet another reminder as to why ThunderCats is one of the best titles on the shelf today. This issue has action, suspense, surprise, emotion, and a fantastic build for what is to come. This is a must get book at the LCS this week, and if it is not on your Pull List, it better be after this week.
