As Pumyra and the group follow their prisoner to where the cult got the bodies of their fallen brothers and sisters. They hunt for the Book of Omens, but unfortunately for them they are also being hunted.

Wreckage in the Desert

The prisoner from the cult leads the Thunderian’s through the desert to the spot where the fallen Cat’s were taken from. Once there they discover the wreckage of the ship known as the Caelestis. The group starts to search the vessel for survivors and more importantly the Book of Omens. This task is very daunting as the ship wreckage is vast.

As they try and decide what to do with their prisoner, they are ambushed by Scorpius and his men. As the fight heats up, it’s revealed that Captain Shiner only needs one of them alive. Can the Cats survive this ambush and live another day? Even if they live, will they be able to find the Book of Omens?

An Unexpected Return

This issue ramps up the story well delivering some kick-ass action along the way. Ed Brisson has done a fantastic job with building these characters and the world around them. Making a world adjacent to a known and beloved franchise can be challenging, but Brisson is absolutely crushing it. Dropping a massive surprise at the end, that will have some incredible repercussions going forward, is just the cherry on top.

The art in this issue is gorgeous and really sets this book apart from others in the genre. Rapha Lobosco does an amazing job with the character designs, bringing to life some great original characters. Lobosco’s version of Third Earth shares characteristics with the main lines but also includes certain distinctions that set it apart. Roshan Kurichiyanil compliments the art perfectly with the color pallet.

Final Thoughts

ThunderCats: Lost #4 continues to deliver an awesome story, well also delivering some top-notch action. Leaning towards more of an adult storyline, it really sets the book apart from the main ThunderCats line. This series is a must read that should be on your Pull List, so if it’s not, rectify that at your LCS this week.
