Anger and Rage Takeover

Dr. Molotov explains a little more of the back story of Ash Arden and Tariq Geiger. We discover that Dr. Molotov has been spared and imprisoned by Geiger, who has tasked him with fixing Junkyard Joe. Meanwhile, the rag tag group is making their way through the wasteland, when they are tracked down by enemies. Can Geiger dispatch the intruders, or the better question is can Geiger keep his rage in check?

Going Out with a Bang

This issue focuses more on the story and what is going on in the world of Tariq Geiger. Geoff Johns does a fantastic job of really encapsulating the complexity of this true anti-hero. The layers that are pulled back and the trauma that has shaped this lost character and his band of misfits brings a great deal of intrigue to this book. But nothing prepares you for the cliffhanger finish of this issue, which leaves the reader wondering, where do we go from here?

As great as the story is in this issue, the art is just as awesome. The different styles and feels that Eamon Winkle and Norm Rapmund bring to this world feels fresh and at the same time as beautiful as the rest of the series. Once you add Robert Nugent’s color scheme to the mix, you end up with some truly breathtaking panels.

Final Thoughts

Geiger #16 takes the reader on a storytelling journey that leaves the reader wanting more. Even though this issue pulls back on the action, it more than delivers on the emotion. The last page is one hell of a cliffhanger that leaves the reader chomping at the bit for the next issue. If this series is not on your Pull List, get to the LCS and add it ASAP.

Overall Grade: 9/10
