Homework Well Suspended!?
Riley is sulking about having to do homework, even though he and the others are suspended from school until the murder investigation is complete. His focus (or lack of) is interrupted by stones being thrown at his window, he goes to the window thinking it is Savvy, but instead it’s his “Aunt” Amy. She has decided to leave because of all that is going on, but her heartfelt goodbye is stopped by Riley’s mom (her best friend) as they have an argument moderated by Richard Feynman!
After everyone settled down from the excitement, things started to come together. Susan makes everyone breakfast before they all hatch a game plan to get homework done, clear the names of the teens, and finish the book respectively. Unfortunately, there is still something foul afoot, and it may be shocking.
All for One and One for All
FML #5 slows the story down a bit but reveals some important keys to where the story is heading. Kelly Sue DeConnick does an excellent job of bringing the reader even closer to the characters. As the story nears an end, more mysteries are being revealed, and connections are starting to make sense.
The punk rock art style of this series continues to be super impressive. David Lòpez does an awesome job with the character designs and makes you pay attention to each and every panel. Cris Peter’s colors compliment the art and make the art pop off the page.

Final Thoughts
FML #5 gets a little bogged down at times but still delivers some great storytelling. As we near the end of the story, the plot thickens and keeps us guessing on what’s coming next. This issue may be the weakest in the series, but it’s still a very good book that will impact the finale for sure. Check this issue out at the LCS this week.
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
