The world of Minor Threats wraps up their latest run, with Welcome to Twilight #4. We kicked off this amazing run meeting an 80s Miami Vice has-been with angel wings that get him nowhere. Issue 2 introduced us to a new character while also giving some insight into Frankie “Playtime” Follis’ past. Then the third issue gave us more of everyone’s favorite giant lobster man: Crab Louie from The Alternates. Now we wrap up this 4 issue run with a new face: the man who “cleans” the city.

The Story for Welcome to Twilight #4

This issue wastes no time getting its hands dirty (and other various parts). We kick right off with a body. A body that most likely wasn’t too upset in their last moments on Earth. However, it’s still a body, that needs cleaned up. Twilight City isn’t known for their clean streets, so when things get dirty, The Cleaner is called in. Clean up often gets creative. While being introduced to The Cleaner, another resident of Twilight City, we get a flashback to one mess that can’t seem to stay clean.

The Art

Another story in the Minor Threats world, and another amazing artist! The art for this one had a crime noir feel that made me read The Cleaner’s lines in my head, as if he was an old school detective trying to solve a crime involving some local crime families. It made the mystery behind the story that much more engaging. Additionally, in true Minor Threats artist fashion… there were easter eggs in the background. So ALWAYS make sure to stop and scan the art.

Overall Grade: 9/10

The more this world grows, the more I fall in love with it. While, it’s hard to compete with Crab Louie and my favorite Barfly, Sh!eater, I’m really loving The Cleaner. He’s twisted, creative, but seems like a good dude still. A hard thing to stay in a city known for D-bags with super powers. While, a familiar face showed up (further connecting this ever growing world) anyone jumping into the fun now, won’t be confused in the least. No better time than the present! So grab Welcome to Twilight #4, and if you fall in love, go grab the other Minor Threats books for some background on The Insomniac, and so many other twisted fantastic characters.

Unlike the other 4 issue runs for Minor Threats, this was the first anthology. So grab one, or all four (I recommend all 4)! As soon as you dip one toe in, you’ll want more. Overall the 4 issue run for Welcome to Twilight was hilarious, dark, intense, hopeful, and disturbing. I absolutely loved it all. Stay tuned for more reviews as this world continues to get bigger, and most likely more disturbing. In a good way, of course.
