The world of Minor Threats continues to grow in this anthology run called, Welcome to Twilight. We kicked off this run meeting an 80s Miami Vice has-been with angel wings that get him nowhere. Issue 2 introduced us to a new character while also giving some insight into Frankie “Playtime” Follis’ past. This issue brought us back to the giant crustacean with a heart of gold! I fell in love with Crab Louie in The Alternates, and he’s back!

The Story for Welcome to Twilight #3
With bills to pay, a struggling marriage, and a kid who barely talks to him, Crab Louis is struggling. It doesn’t help that he’s a literal giant lobster crab man. While he still attends his support group regularly with the other Alternates he’s not in the best place. He’s got a family to support and he turns to the convention scene to do just that. However, things go comically worse than expected in more ways than one. In the end we’re reminded that despite his hard shell exterior, he’s a soft shell through and through.
The Art
Throughout Minor Threats so many amazing artists have brought these stories to life, and Welcome to Twilight #3 is no different. However, for me this issue took it to another level by showcasing two of my favorite places: comic conventions and the ocean. From hilarious details at a con to absolutely gorgeous underwater views. I truly loved taking in the art of this comic.
Additionally, there was so much more story told on each page through the art. From nods to pop culture icons to details about the characters in this issue. No space was wasted, and I loved every inch of it.
Overall Grade: 10/10
With all the amazing stories we’ve gotten from the Minor Threats creators two of their characters have stolen my heart: Sh!teater from Barfly and Crab Louie. I was so happy to see him grace the cover of Welcome to Twilight #3, and he did not disappoint! We got to check in, and get a hilarious and sweet update. Whether he’s hard or soft shelled, he’s a softie with a huge heart, but also a badass. I’d give my left arm for a picture with Crab Louie.
If you haven’t checked out this world just yet, you can dive in right here! While I highly suggest going back and checking everything out, don’t let the stories already told discourage you from checking out Welcome to Twilight. Each story is stand alone in a much bigger world. All in all, I have to give this issue 10 out of 10 sticks of butter.
