“Talk About Freedom”
John has found Mitchell’s house and is pulling the information of where the rest of the crew is. Meanwhile, Frank, Clarence, and the Lady are back together and have Mitchell’s wife Rose. As they pull into the abandoned town known as Whiskeytown, they need to decide if they will kill Rose for Mitchell or let here go. This leads to a nice heart to heart with Frank and the Lady, that further lets us know the real her.
At the same time, Bob and Cy are hot on the trail of the fugitives as they arrive in Redding. A lady comes into the police station to report her husband missing, which sends Bob and Cy on the trail again. Well tracking the fugitives, the 2 lawmen finally accept each other’s love and plan on running away together when its all said and done. But before that can happen, they discover the carnage that John has left in his wake.
Trail of Carnage
This issue really ups the ante and reveals more about the characters we’ve grown to love or hate. Christopher Cantwell does an expert job of pulling the reader into this story and taking them on the journey. With three distinct storylines going on, you never feel confused or overwhelmed about where we are headed. Also, as the stories start to converge, the bigger picture becomes clearer.
The art in this issue, much like the rest of the series, is amazing. Tyler Crook does a fantastic job bringing this world to life with his art. The art gives you the old time feel, well also bringing the world to life. The watercolor style and coloring really sets this book apart from others on the shelf today.

Final Thoughts
Out of Alcatraz #4 really ramps up the story as we are starting to hit the climax of this story arc. If you are a fan of alternative history stories, this series is a must read. Even if you aren’t a fan of that genre, this story truly transcends the genre and is a great book that you should check out at the LCS.
Overall Grade: 9/10
