The Story and Writing

After so much preparing, planning, and training, we have finally arrived to the fight between Deathgrip and Deadpool & Daughters, LLC. Deadpool, Ellie, Princess, and Taskmaster sought out Deathgrip and were met with his undead army and worked together to take them down. Once they finished taking on the undead cult members, they turned their focus to Deathgrip. Deathgrip made it very clear that this would be more of a challenge than they anticipated by growing multiple new astral arms, and showing off a new power.

Deadpool had already stabbed Deathgrip in the heart, which usually would’ve been enough, but not this time. Deathgrip had his heart covered by the Muramasa Blade, making it next to impossible to fully defeat Deathgrip. Fortunately, everyone on Deadpool’s team has been training for what’s to come, which means Ellie and Taskmaster have more than a few tricks up their sleeves. Even with their new attacks, Deathgrip proves to be a challenge, so it’ll take spectacular to end this once and for all.

Cody Ziglar made this Deadpool run a wild ride of excitement and action all the way through, and ended it just like that. There was so much buildup throughout the past issues leading to this final battle, which I felt was a very satisfying ending.

Deadpool #15 also comes with three bonus stories, each one more fun than the last. All of the bonus stories are very different from each other, but each one is entertaining. The writers for Deadpool #15 and the bonus stories really went out of their way to make this issue a full course meal in terms of how much content they give you

The Art

The artwork of Deadpool has been so consistent in quality, and I’m so pleased it ended on such a good note thanks to Rogê Antônio, Guru-eFX, and Joe Sabino. With Deadpool #15 being mostly fighting sequences, Rogê Antônio makes each page full of action that is as stunning as it is exciting. Along with Antônio, Guru-eFX brings even more heat with him handling the coloring, giving us some really remarkable panels. With great use of contrasting colors between Deadpool, Ellie, Princess, and Deathgrip, their fight turned into a vibrant celebration of powersets.

Final Thoughts

Cody Ziglar made Deadpool #15 feel like the best ending for the entire run. I’d love to see Ziglar continue to work with Deadpool in the future, as I feel he really knows what he’s doing when writing the character. He writes Deadpool in a way that feels new, but authentic, to the character. Hats off to Cody Ziglar for this great run!
