The Story:
In 1985 the boys finish up their first game with the Hellfire Club. While they had a blast, Eddie struggles to decide where to take the story next. Back in 1979, the game is wrapping up and Hellfire Club must move on with a new Dungeon Master.
The Writing:
The writing team of Houser and Campbell turned in a wonderful conclusion to this story. The thing I loved the most about this story was that it wasn’t reliant on the horror or science fiction aspect of Stranger Things. Instead, the writing team focused on the characters and the tabletop games they played. This series could have easily been one that leaned into the over the top aspects of the show and relied on the name Stranger Things without giving the reader anything to really grasp on to. However, instead they delivered a touching story about finding your people in the terrifying world of high school. This aspect of found family and acceptance is what makes D&D so wonderful and it is why Stranger Things continues to be the powerhouse IP that it is.

The Art:
Just like the rest of the series, this issue delivered beautiful artwork. The creative team captured, not only the characters, but also the feeling of playing a game of D&D with your friends. The D&D player character models were wonderful and the action was well crafted. All in all, the art really tied the story together in a fantastic way. The cover art for this, and all of the issues, being an homage to old D&D books was a wonderful touch.
Overall Grade: 10/10
This series was a love letter to Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons. The creative team was able to stick the landing with a story that perfectly leads into the beginning of the last season of the show while also highlighting the reason why table top games are so beloved. This issue was a perfect end to a wonderful story.
