The Hunt Intensifies
Captain Coffin and Said lead the group through the countryside on the hunt for the beasts that are terrorizing the Island. As they try to find their lair, they come across a farmstead. Unfortunately, inside the farm there is nothing but carnage. As they continue their hunt, a thick fog rolls in, and they realize they are not alone. The beasts attack and they end up hurting Brock, but in the process the hunters kill two of the beasts.
Upon returning to the missionary, the hunters show off the beasts they slayed. They appear to be abnormally large wolves. Due to whatever these beasts are Captain Coffin demands more money from the Colonel. However, the money should be the least of their worries, as Brock is having some weird side effects from his attack.
Wolves in the Missionary
The Lycan #3 does a great job of building on the suspense that’s been built up over the past issues. As we get closer to finding out what the mystery is, Mike Carey does a better job of teasing us more. The suspense from page to page, and even panel to panel is fantastic. As the story continues to develop, the readers’ speculation can only grow.
The art in this issue is simply stunning. Diego Yapur does a wonderful job of bringing this 19th century world to life. The art is reminiscent of oil paintings and fits the story perfectly. DC Alonso does an awesome job of complimenting the art with the perfect color palette. Which really makes the images come to life on the page.
