Journey Through the Mowed Lands
Slade is making his way through the Yard with Wysta, who he doesn’t trust but must rely on. As they travel and chat, they both open up more to one another. They come across multiple grisly scenes, some caused by nature, but most are caused by Bug Rustler’s. Even though there is a truce in place, that doesn’t stop these outlaws from doing what they love.
As Slade gives into the fact that he just wants to go home and get out of this place, even if that means giving up the amulet to the Wyrdweb, so be it. However, before they can get there, they finally run into some Bug Rustler’s. The fight turns savage and brutal, but Slade takes out the leader. Even though that threat is done, whatever the Spiders have in store for him could be worse.
There’s No Place Like Home
Bug Wars #4 continues to deliver one heck of an adventure saga. Jason Aaron finds a way to not only put our main characters in threatening situations that they must overcome, but also still grows said characters endearing them even more to us. This issue has a lot of heart, but still a good deal of action, comedy, and of course bug guts. As the story pushes forward the depth of the characters is awe inspiring.
The art in this issue, much like the rest of the series, is simply awesome. Mahmud Asrar does next level work on the character designs, as well as his attention to detail really makes the Yard come to life. Couple that with the awesome and gruesome action sequences, and it’s simply a chef’s kiss of awesome art. The colors by Matthew Wilson are on point and make the art in every panel pop.

Final Thoughts
Bug Wars #4 is yet another homerun in this series. The original story that has a lot of heart and some great (and gory) action, with a twist of comedy is a breath of fresh air in the comic realm. This book and series is a lot of fun and still delivers a compelling and great story to boot. This is a must read and if it is not already on your Pull List, that needs to change this week!
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
