The great X-Manhunt continues and this time, it’s in Professor Xavier’s favor! While Sage is trying to locate the X-Force team when she receives a message from the man himself, Professor Charles Xavier. Xavier is in the need of assistance and Sage is exactly the person to help him. Xavier and his giant egg are in need of saving so Sage dispatches John Wraith to extract the two and take them to a safe place.

After a trying time of getting to the safe house with Xavier, they have about 30 minutes of safety before they have to move. That’s not a problem because according to Xavier, the large egg is ready to hatch now.

Meanwhile, X-Force is more than busy with their battle against new villain, La Diabla, and her team of Colossus and Rampage. Forge, Rachel, Betsy and Tank may have finally met their match with it comes to La Diabla.

The Writing

This was a very interesting addition to the X-Manhunt event, to say the least. I have been so curious what Xavier’s egg could’ve possibly have been, but now it makes all the sense in the world. It certainly was very different to see Xavier have someone so loyal to him as Sage is and do whatever she can to ensure his safety. Something else I found exciting was seeing John Wraith again. I really liked seeing him and Sage work together, and I hope that continues!

The Art

Marcus To and Erick Arcineiga created some really beautiful visuals throughout the comic but I’d have to say some of my favorites are from the fight with X-Force and La Diabla. With La Diabla’s powerset giving off a green light along with the power, it works so well against Betsy’s pink.

The art of X-Force has been consistently impressive but I’d say the art of X-Force #9 is the best it’s been. The excitement of the fight juxtaposed the calmness of Xavier and Sage really has you feeling every tone the comic is putting out. The artists really outdid themselves in X-Force #9.

Overall Grade – 8.4/10
