CATCH UP WITH ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #1 HERE!

The Story

As Doctor Doom’s reign over the world, or United Latveria, continues, it seems it’s time for his familiar foes to get involved. The Fantastic Four has sat witness to what the new world emperor has done, and while it seems he’s actually made helpful changes, the four heroes know him better than anyone. But with that history the Fantastic Four has with Doom, that also means he knows them just as well.

Mr. Fantastic has looked at every factor and has come to the conclusion that Doom will be making an address at the United Nations the following day. With this knowledge, this seems to be the perfect time to reveal exactly who Victor Von Doom truly is to the world. This appears to be a very straight forward plan but there’s moving parts that the team aren’t aware of. Doctor Doom has someone on his side that could really hurt the Fantastic Four.

The daughter of Sue Storm and Richard Reeds, Valeria, is the only person that has Doom’s favor, respect, and love, and seems to be the only person who could possibly get through to him. Valeria Richards pays a secret visit to her emperor godfather without her parents having any knowledge of this. Doom and Valeria have agreed to be completely honest with each other no matter what, so Valeria takes the opportunity to ask Doom what exactly his plan is. With knowing his plan, Valeria may be the only person in the world that has the power to change Doom’s mind, but will she take that opportunity?

Meanwhile, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are still reeling from their loss against Doom, and see him only growing more powerful. Their only chance of success now is to join forces with a familiar, but questionable team if they want any chance at success over Victor Von Doom.

The Writing

Ryan North has, yet again, created a powerful addition to the One World Under Doom event, but this time raising the stakes higher than I thought possible. With Doom’s fight against the Fantastic Four, it showed just how powerful he is and what he’s willing to do to rip apart the family of four. But with the excitement of his showdown with the Fantastic Four, you also get the complete opposite when he deals with Valeria.

Victor Von Doom’s overall demeanor when meeting with Valeria certainly showed a different side to him, and made it clear that he’s not a mad emperor that many think, but someone who has thought through every piece of his plan as Emperor of the World.

The Art

R.B. Silva and David Curiel are the masterminds who brought this fantastic storyline to life with their artwork, and it’s just another example of how truly talented they are. R.B. Silva gave us some really stunning panels, particularly the ones involving Doom and Valeria. While Silva showcased his talents with his drawings, David Curiel added more power to the punch with his work on the colors, bringing jaw-dropping pages to the One World Under Doom #2.
