Pinupocalypse #1 – A Zombie Apocalypse Never Looked So Good

Published:

Zombie stories have become such a staple in pop culture. From terrifying to comical and everything in between. Pinupocalypse is another fun, and hilarious, spin on a now classic monster. Zombie hunters have never looked so good. However, zombies aren’t the only thing these pinups have to deal with.

The Story for Issue 1

It’s Foxy’s 18th Birthday and she wants what every young woman wants. Just a pretty dress and to one day marry a man, and never work day in her life (strong emphasis on sarcasm). However, her perfect birthday with her perfect family, doesn’t stay so perfect for long. She suddenly finds herself face to face with a zombie, and brains all over her new birthday dress. What will the girls at school think of her perfect dress now??? Heavens to Betsy!

The Art

A comic with the term ‘Pinup’ in the title, has to have some gorgeous art. Pinupocalypse absolutely delivered in that regard. Foxy is growing up in Pinupolis, and every page was worthy of the name. From Foxy’s dad’s newspaper, to an explosive scene leading to zombies. The art was gorgeous, detailed, and fun from beginning to end.

Overall Grade: 9/10

Pinupocalypse immediately sucked me in. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Yet, the second I picked up on the over the top sarcastic humor, I knew this was gonna be a lot of fun. I love a story that pokes fun at itself, while still taking the story seriously. Roxy is not your normal teenage girl. However, she is what many people would like to think is a normal teenage girl. While this story takes place decades before today, stereotypes tend to live longer than they should. Nevertheless, nothing can shake up the norm quicker than a town full of zombies.

If you’re looking for a hilarious horror, action packed, gorgeous zombie comic, then add Pinupocalypse to your pull list. This is 9 out of 10 zombies for me.
