My Soul to Keep
After being possessed, Mara is left in a weakened state with her parents not knowing what is going on. After some convincing her father gets the President to allow her to be treated at Walter Reed. Unfortunately, all the tests come back negative leaving the doctors baffled. Complicating the situation more, Mara attacks her father and leaves him bloody.
Meanwhile, the President is trying to balance what is going on at home with her duties. During a historic bill signing, the press takes aim at the Havana Syndrome reports that are being leaked to them by Senator Beirn. To make situations worse, the President gets news that there is fuel to that fire.
Then we have Kevin, who blames himself for what is happening to his sister. He apologizes to his sister and tells her he’ll make it right. Kevin is the only one who knows Mara is possessed, now he must convince others to get her the help she needs.
An Exorcism is Needed
The Exorcism at 1600 Penn #2 really kicks this story into another gear. This issue wastes no time upping the ante, well also leaving enough things in the shadows to be revealed in future issues. Hannah Rose May is bringing this fully original story with some great social commentaries to life.
The art in this issue is fantastic. The choice to go with a contemporary art style for this story is a perfect choice. Vanesa Del Rey does an awesome job of making the art look as unique as the story itself. Well, Jordie Bellaire’s color pallet is dark and gloomy, much like the tale that’s being told.
