Start Your Engines

S.I.R #3 picks up with the aftermath of Avery becoming Ares for a night. This has led to Avery becoming an official S.I.R participant. Well, signing up it’s suggested that Avery should pave her own way and not give Nico all the glory by riding as Ares. Avery takes that advice and becomes Sir Athene.

Meanwhile, Avery is trying to earn the love of Nico back. Although Nico is not happy about Avery joining S.I.R, she is starting to become softer on her. Sir Athene is challenged by the returning Sir Stormbird. Stormbird appears to care about Avery and Nico, but is that enough to help the situation?

Loyalty Should be Rewarded

The story picks up some steam in S.I.R #3 with the interactions between Nico & Avery. Fell Hound thickens the plot by keeping motives in the shadows and allowing the reader to really start building their own conspiracy theories about this world. This issue is heavy in story and does bog down just a little in the middle pages.

The art is always on point in this series. The anime influence is always strong, and the colors match the mood that is being conveyed in each panel.

Final Thoughts

S.I.R #3 lets up on the throttle a little bit and lets the conflicts take a back seat to the human stories being told. Even though the pace slowed the book is still very enjoyable and really makes you want to see what’s in store for the next issue.

Final Garde: 8/10
