Rodan Rules the Day
Godzilla: HTBD #4 opens with the Mayan origin tale of Rodan and his vengeance on the Conquistador Fernando Suez. After Thomas Jefferson finishes the tale to Mr. Lane, they continue the discussion about the order that Jefferson is in and their business with Lane. Jefferson exposes Napoleon as a member and even includes that he sent Louis & Clark on their expedition in search of Kaiju.
It is then revealed that Mr. Lane was an apprentice of Ben Franklin’s, and this is why he is needed by the order. They hope Lane can help find a secret before the inevitable happens. What is the inevitable and how does Aaron Burr fit into it?
Their Can Only Be One King
Frank Tieri is creating a new history around the Kaiju. Using real historical figures and situations to bolster the legends of the Kaiju is a gamble and it pays off tenfold. This world that Frank Tieri has created feels real and is amazing. Add to that the story is unfolding like a conspiracy/mystery novel, and you can’t go wrong with it.
The art is magnificent. Inaki Miranda goes from Mayan inspired art to the books Sherlock Holmes like art, to French inspired art, and finally Japanese inspired. One would think with all the changes it would lose something; however, it makes everything that much better. Big Kudos to Eva de la Cruz for matching colors with each style seamlessly.
