“A Hand In It”
A Hand In It is written by Jay Stephens with art by Leomacs and colors by Inaki Azpiaza.
In this opening tale we meet Patricia Millicent who is a morgue technician. She spends a lot of time with the bodies of the deceased and considering how her husband treats her, this is a good thing. She has a special relationship with the corpse of a serial killer named Craig Harrison Davis. This infatuation leads her to an idea of how to get rid of her problem husband. Will she succeed or was it never her story to begin with?
This opening tale is a great story with an expert level twist at the end. The art is reminiscent of horror comics of the 70’s & 80’s. This story leading off the book was the right pick.
“Blood Type”
Blood Type is written by Corinna Bechko with art by Jonathan Case.
What if you put a vampire on a ship with unsuspecting victims? Now what if when people discover the murders, they flee to a lifeboat with said vampire on it? Do those questions intrigue you? Well, if so, this is the tale for you!
On the surface this seems like a basic vampire story. However, Corinna Bechko turns the story on its head with a unique plot twist. The originality of this story alone makes buying this issue a must read.

“A Crossroads Repetition”
A Crossroads Repetition is written by Chris Condon with art by Charlie Adlard.
Mr. Saul Henry is a janitor at a community college. Well sweeping up the college he hears a lecture about how the devil can make deals with the living. After hearing this Saul decides to seek out the location of the Devil as he has something he regrets from his path. But you know what they say, be careful what you wish for.
This final tale reminds me of The Twilight Zone. On the surface it’s a basic story and feels a little confusing. However, when you get to the end you realize that the devil is in the details.
Final Thoughts
Epitaphs from the Abyss #3 delivers just like the 2 issues before it. The EC Comics revival from Oni Press has been spectacular, and they are firing on all cylinders. Make sure to get these books ordered and add them to your Pull List at your LCS.
Final Grade: 9/10
