The Fight For Krakoa’s Future
After a lot of setting up in the first installment of X-Men: Forever, the beginning of the battle for the fate of Krakoa is here! Witnessing the narrative evolve alongside each character and their individual arcs is nothing short of thrilling. With Krakoa’s future hanging in the balance, anticipations are high for the exhilarating developments promised in the ongoing X-Men Forever series.
So far, that statement is correct. X-Men: Forever #2 has so many moving parts, it feels like much more than a single comic book. This is a comic you’ll want to make sure you’re familiar with the preceding stories beforehand. It’s a continuation of so many storylines from past comics such as Immortal X-Men or Rise Of The Powers Of X. Somehow, you’re placed in the middle of the action but also at the very beginning as well.
In X-Men: Forever #2, you’ll get some great Summers action like Rachel Summers and Hope Summers. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Summers family, even Hope, although we don’t know if she has Summers’ blood in her, she’s as Summers as it gets. But those two are only the tip of the iceberg with what goes on in the second installment. Plenty of the mutants get a chance to shine, which is something I appreciate.
All In All
X-Men: Forever #2 skillfully maintains the exciting momentum characteristic of the X-Men series. Bursting with action throughout, the comic adeptly blends character development and storyline progression. The artwork is exquisite, showcasing each mutant with a stunning array of colors. Personally, I find Rachel Summers, also known as Askani, particularly striking in this issue. The scenes are visually captivating, with the final scene being especially memorable—I won’t spoil it, but trust me, it’s fantastic.
Kieron Gillen ranks pretty high among my preferred X-Men writers. His adept handling of the characters shines through, as he skillfully crafts solid character arcs for each member of the team. Gillen does really well at granting each character a distinct voice, empowering them to assert themselves within the story. So far, X-Men: Forever is evidence of all of that.
I Give This An 8 Out Of 10
