Parts are moving on multiple fronts. Cobra Commander is now aware of the Techno-Vipers, Dawn is getting backed into a corner, the Joes are setting up an Ambush, Serpentor is field testing, and Destro has a wolf in the henhouse that’s not even his wolf!
The Art & Writing
Grit, grim, and Dim—these are not bad qualities! Larry Hama is writing a different kind of Joe than what we saw from SUNBOW so long ago. It gives an air of something foreboding, and with many moving parts, once they come together, all hell will break loose. The balance between the art and writing synergizes perfectly, so the characters shine with this miasma of espionage surrounding them.
Thoughts from THE PIT
Larry Hama and his Team are making magic! They are filling the cannon with so much gunpowder, but for me, the fuse is too long. I’m ready to take at least one of the storylines to the next step and get some resolution. Instead, it’s just all building and building up. If the summation happens all at once, cool, but it has to be done right. It is not in the TV style of nineteen minutes of build-up, then tied up neatly with a bow in the last two minutes, and then credits.
