Meanwhile, Artist Andrea Di Vito said this:
“Super heroes are meant to inspire us to be better, but sometimes we forget that the greatest inspirations come from real life. “All good things must come to an end…” A true statement, some would say. But how can you really know something is “good” if it’s not given the opportunity to prove so…? Come along as we dive into the Planet She-Hulk “limited series” by Stephanie Phillips.
Planet She-Hulk
The on-going turned limited series story of Planet She-Hulk takes place after the Imperial event by Johnathan Hickman. She-Hulk fans were blessed with the selection of Stephanie Phillips to write the story of Planet She-Hulk. From the debut issue through issue number five this story was on a great pace and told just enough story within the pages to leave readers wanting the next issue. The story build-up was so good!
Planet She-Hulk #1, Credit Marvel Comics. Cover by Fan Yan (1:25 Variant Cover)
This series starts with Hulk asking She-Hulk to stay on Sakaar and watch over everyone until he returns. Once he leaves, things take a turn! This is when the political struggle takes over Sakaar that She-Hulk wants nothing to do with. But every time she tried to leave, something keeps pulling her back. This story also dabbles in a lover’s quarrel that doesn’t bode well for those involved.
Another fascinating portion of this story is when She-Hulk flips the script on the so-called “new king” of Sakaar by challenging him as a lawyer. Which in turn backfires. She-Hulk is attempting to save the life of a young man, but by order of the king, she must fight to prove his innocence. She-Hulk is all for this, till we learn who her opponent will be…
This is when the story starts to take a path that is informational for readers in regard to She-Hulks past. Her opponent is Jack of Hearts, her previous lover. After being introduced to him, She-Hulk knows that something isn’t right with Jack. That is because he is under some sort of spell or mind control by the king. There is one little detail that the king overlooks in making Jake of Hearts his competitor… The fact the She-Hulk knows his fighting style, and his mindset. She knew moves Jack would make before he made them.
Needless to say, She-Hulk wins, and proves the young man’s innocence. Along with doing that she was able to rescue Jack as well. But she is taken by the leader of a rebel group called The Thousand Eyes. This is when a plan is presented to She-Hulk. In showing no fear when forced to challenge the king of Sakaar, She-Hulk won over the hearts of the people! They want her to become their Queen and dethrone the makeshift king. But She-Hulk doesn’t want to be Queen…
This brings us to the abrupt ending of this series. Issue six sends She-Hulk back to New York to her “normal” everyday life. She has rekindled her relationship with Jack of Hearts as well! But it’s when she gets an interrupted visit from someone from Sakaar that makes things questionable. She-Hulk doesn’t remember this person but after some knocks to the head, her memory returns to her and she recalls Juno. Juno has tracked down She-Hulk to apologize for what she did to her back on Sakaar. Which comes across as strange to She-Hulk. Which leads to a cliff hanger plot twist ending that would typically happen in a story that is ongoing or has a continuation issue following. This series is now hanging in the balance to see what might or might not be in the future.
Gone Too Soon…
As majority of She-Hulk fans know, this series when it was announced by Marvel in November of 2025 was going to be an ongoing series. Which made me excited! Not only because of a different take on She-Hulk, but also because of Stephanie Phillips writing the story. But shortly after its launch, its flight plan took an unexpected and abrupt turn. After being blessed with five very strong and well put together issues of this series, fans are hit with the news of its cancelation…
Planet She-Hulk #3, Credit Marvel Comics. Cover by Clayton Crain.
Stephanie Phillips took to social media to try and provide as best as she could an explanation for the cancelation. In an attempt to bring comfort and some peace to her fans. While I understand the business aspect of this decision, it still rubs me the wrong way. She-Hulk the character hasn’t had a true ongoing story since 2005 (She-Hulk ’05-’09, 49 issues) and 1989 (The Sensational She-Hulk ’89-’94, 63 issues).
I have read the coverage on the reasons for the cancelation of this title by Marvel, and I do not personally agree with their decision. This series by Miss Phillips had all the potential in the world to spark a new admiration for She-Hulk. Some stories can be simple and completed within four to six issues. Unfortunately, that was not the case for this series. Stephanie’s writing and mapping of this story was compounded and growing. Leaving her (Stephanie) to raise anchor and draft a conclusion to a story that I’m sure she didn’t see ending, this soon at least.
I mean no disrespect towards Marvel Comics. I am simply voicing my opinions regarding what myself (a fan) am witnessing. Marvel has had some very good stories come out that end up getting cut short when they haven’t had a true opportunity to express their worth. I keep hearing the popular phrase when it comes to a new book or TV series, “If it doesn’t grab me by chapter/issue two or three, I’m done with it.” I do not feel that this method (if being applied) should be utilized for comic books. Some stories take time to build, extend the cancelation cut off to ten issues. Give these creators a chance to potentially make something magical, meaningful and or memorable…
In the words of the late Michael Jackson, “Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight. Here one day, gone one night. Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon… Gone too soon…”
As we near the end of THE BOYS on Prime Video, the hunt for V1 continues. If you’re looking for a spoiler free review of episodes 1-7 CLICK HERE. However, if you’ve seen the fifth episode of season 5, you’re safe. If not, you’re gonna want to run out of here faster than whoever it is A-Train replaced.
In the last episode “King of Hell” we went on a roller coaster of emotions and hilarious one-liners. I stand by the fact that episode 4 is rewatchable for the one-liners alone. Aside from the laughs, we got some great moments as The Boys and Homelander continue on their scavenger hunt to see who finds V1 first. Our main take away for The Boys was they think they have a lead. It looks as if someone stole the last vile, and their theory is it was Bombsight.
While Homelander and Soldier Boy don’t come to that conclusion, they do have a weird bonding moment or two. They’re both incredibly messed up individuals who have been experimented on, worshiped, and fell in love with the same Nazi. They have no idea how to process any emotions and they’re face to face and bonding in the only way they seem to know how: a “will they won’t they” kill each other scenario. In the end we’re left with a pissed off Homelander fresh out of time out ready to commit patricide, and a tormented Soldier Boy who was just tricked into killing someone he hates. Someone who he has a past with, that seemed very complicated, and now he’s gone for good. Another piece of his past gone forever. All Homelander’s rage dissipates when he sees his father in tears.
This episode of THE BOYS took a different approach than we usually see. We got different perspectives from different characters. We went from Firecracker, to Black Noir, Terror, Sage, and then wrapped up with Soldier Boy, and the much anticipated SUPERNATURAL reunion.
Firecracker
Let freedom ring! Oh Firecracker. You had one thing about you that you actually stuck to, and that was Jesus. She was clearly conflicted about Homelander becoming the new Savoir, but in the end she made her decision. She had multiple chances to redeem herself, but instead she ditched her toy Jesus, and went full dark side. All to meet her demise at the tip of an Eagle’s wing. She said all the right things to Homelander, but it was too late. Poor Firecracker didn’t even get to nut that last time. Shout out to Valerie Curry for bringing Firecracker to life. She made me laugh, roll my eyes, cringe, and in the end, I actually felt bad for her. Despite how hateful she became.
Black Noir is so over Deep’s bullshit, but what he fails to recognize is Deep is the only one that has survived on The Seven next to Homelander. While Deep may be a complete dumbass who drinks all the Homelander kool-aid, he’s only it in for himself and he’s figured out how to play the game. Even if he’s no expert. RIP to the award winning director of Dawn of the Seven. Hopefully someone else see’s new Black Noir’s potential.
Terror
Terror is living the life with his Homelander toy (complete with a stiff cape), and his perfectly cooked steak. However, this wasn’t really about Terror. This one-shot showed us Frenchie discussing his biggest fear: not being able to give Kimiko everything she deserves. It also reminded us about the bond between Hughie and Butcher. They’ve been at each other’s throats arguing about the V1. Butcher wants it destroyed so as to not risk Homelander getting his hands on it, and Hughie wants it to protect Annie, Kimiko, and Butcher in case they’re exposed to the virus.
After seeing Butcher’s fear and love for Terror, Hughie smiles. There is the Butcher he’s always defending. The one who still has a glimmer of his heart left. Butcher sees Hughie smile, looks at his brother, Lenny’s, trophy and tells Hughie he’ll try to save some V1 for the girls if it works out. It was a quick moment, but it spoke volumes and brought us back to their relationship in earlier seasons.
Sage
Susan Heyward (Sister Sage)
Sister Sage’s ultimate plan is revealed! She just wants to read in peace. The smartest person in the world just wants to be left alone. Such a relatable sentiment. So she manipulates everyone and tries to burn the world down. So simple. However, I do wonder, what her plan was before Godolkin betrayed her in Gen V. Also, was this the plan when Homelander was actually listening to her? Where her path ends is one I’m the most curious and excited to watch. She’s smarter than everyone, but no one will listen. Might as well let it all burn and enjoy the quiet.
SOLDIER BOY
Cue the NOT Captain America music! Thanks to Soldier Boy’s detective skills and grimacing glare, him and Homelander are off to Hollywood to see a man about some V1. It’s the fastest dealer around, former member of The Seven, and a Supernatural Speedster. It’s Mister Marathon played by Jared Padalecki. Still bitter about being replaced by A-Train, he welcomes father and son into his home, where he is currently entertaining some well known comedians/actors.
After walking past many Supernatural Easter Eggs, Mr. Marathon tells them he can get Bombsight over here with some V1 in a jiffy. Turns out he’s stalling as Malchemical, played by Misha Collins, knocks Homelander out. They want him dead, and they need Soldier Boy’s glowing chest to do it. He sadly declines, saying, “Nobody fucks my son but me!” A hilarious line he instantly regrets, that immediately made me think of their first meeting in the comic books. After watching Soldier Boy kill Malchemical (thank you Kripke for not exploding Misha AGAIN), the race is on with the fastest man alive.
After listening to some amazing celebrities playing themselves, talk so much shit, it made a chase scene that should have been just gruesome, also hilarious. Celebrities are used as human shields, as they’re ‘Robin-ized.’ In a world where we analyze how people with super powers would actually act, it seems fitting to analyze how celebrities would act when they can easily throw each other under the bus. Or into a Freedom camp. Those MEMES! Post Malone and Michael Cera better watch their backs.
At the end of the day, Soldier Boy chooses his son. He had an out, and he decided not to take it. Not gonna lie, I would have loved to see him take it, and create Free Will 3.0! BUT, this isn’t Supernatural, and apparently family does end with blood here. Once again The Boys and America’s Sexiest Dynasty have the same next lead on V1.
Final Thoughts
Well hot damn! That was fun! I loved getting the different perspectives from different parties. The way we saw Hughie and Butcher bond because of Terror, was quite adorable. Meanwhile, Sage’s ultimate plan left me surprised, but as a mom of 3, I also kind of get it. Noir is finally standing up for himself (eh oh), and Firecracker literally dumped Jesus at the worst time possible. A highlight of course, we got a Supernatural reunion. Complete with Sam and Dean doing coke together. It was everything I wanted, while simultaneously not being what I wanted at all. I loved it.
I got to give this episode 9.75 bottles of Puff Baby Oil out of 10. Not gonna lie, it got a Supernatural bump, but it was still a hell of an episode. “One-Shots” gave us some beautiful and disturbing perspectives into this world full of washed up Supe movies, a cum soaked dog toy, a lot of Taco Bell call outs, and a false God.

Finally, the last episode of this limited series. I want to first say, that this has been a very enjoyable series. Elisabeth Moss, Kate Mara, and Kerry Washington did amazing in their roles. The question still remains as to who killed Nancy (Kate Mara), and this final episode finally answers that question.
Elisabeth Moss and Jackson Kelly in “Imperfect Women,” now streaming on Apple TV.
Mary (Elisabeth Moss) is still grappling with the fact that her children were taken away from her. She’s trying to get them back, but, it’s hard because of the child protective services case. Meanwhile, Eleanor (Kerry Washington) is trying to be a lending hand to Mary, but, it turns. This episode shocked me with Mary’s decision as to what she does. All along I was suspicious of everyone, because I didn’t know who wanted Nancy dead.
Kerry Washington in “Imperfect Women,” now streaming on Apple TV.
This episode gets quite emotional, as we finally figure out what led up to having Nancy killed. I was really happy to see that Mary and Eleanor were together to discover the truth. I’m not going to say exactly who killed her, you’ll have to watch to find out. I was not shocked as to who it was, and I kind of figured it out based on what we learned in episode 7. Mary and Eleanor also were putting the pieces together as well. In the end, I am glad that the truth got out.
The series as a whole was a lovely mystery that was enjoyable from start to finish. As I mentioned before, everyone was a piece of the puzzle, and it all was put together in the end.

Acting as a bit of a who’s who for Dynamite’s greatest hits, this latest effort from writer David Avallone has everyone from Gullivar of Mars to Vampirella. With Vampi being a part of this, you just know I had to get on it! Included are a total of four stories, so I elected to split this into four parts, diverting from my usual review style. Without further ado, let’s get into “Giant Sized Savage Tales #1”!
Writer: David Avallone Artists: Mariano Benitez-Chapo, Pasqual Qualano, Sebastián Piriz Colors: Omi Remalante Jr. Letters: Jeff Eckleberry

“Gullivar of Mars: His War Chapter Four”
As someone who’s never read “Gullivar of Mars”, this initially felt like a rather odd story to approach. That being said, I greatly appreciated the narration at the beginning, as it detailed a bit of his backstory. I always love it when writers do things like this to catch new readers up, as it helps ease us into things. Under Avallone’s penmanship, Gullivar comes off as someone that has great regret for his actions and inactions while trying to do the right thing. This creates and highly interesting and layered character that kept me glued to the page.
As for the story itself, I was a tad bit lost at first, but Avallone made things easy to piece together. He seems to have struck the perfect balance between intense and simple. While the story is set to the backdrop of an ongoing war, Avallone kept things to just three characters to focus on and gave enough information to get readers caught up and engaged. For any writer, this isn’t always the simplest task, so I have to give major props for him being to do it!
When it comes to the art and colors by Chapo and Remalante Jr, everything here was simply incredible. The lighting looked highly realistic while several of the angles kept things electric, making the reader feel perspective of power. Whatever else these two work on, I’m more than game to read.
“Red Sonja: The Code”
Hot off the heels of Gullivar of Mars is my favorite She-Devil With a Sword, Red Sonja! Just like with Gullivar’s story, this one is simple to follow yet great. Avallone perfectly demonstrates not just why, but who Red Sonja is as a character. While first making you question her motives as a mercenary, the plot twist here turns everything on its head while simultaneously wrapping things up beautifully. To top it off, the pacing is spot on, blending both action and intensity to keep readers locked in.
Pairing perfectly with the writing is the art from Pasqual Qualano. His penciling couples well with Remalante Jr’s colors, drastically enhancing the already great work of Avallone. This was for sure a total feast for the eyes.
Source: Björn Barends, Dynamite Comics
“Allan Quartermain and The Invaders”
Growing up, I only ever knew of Allan Quartermain thanks to the movie “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. So suffice it to say that it was hard for me to not picture Sean Connery while reading this savage tale. Here, Avallone portrays Quartermain as this terrifying force of nature, a one-man army against German soldiers. I also loved the setting and framing of this story as they both felt rather unique, both from most stories and from each other. While the main setting is this small farmhouse in the English countryside, the framing of it focuses on two guys on a boat, one telling the other the second-hand account of the story. It gives this air of an unreliable narrator, making you question if the details are exact or exaggerated and I love it.
In terms of the artwork by Sebastián Piriz, it feels perfectly intense and haunting. The facial expressions in every character perfectly show what emotions they’re experiencing, making the reader feel them too. I know there was a few moments where my heart began to race in fear of Quartermain and that’s all thanks to the perfect pairing of the artwork and writing. Stellar work all around!
“Vampirella: The Old Country Trigger”
Now for the story that Dynamite themselves seemed to continue hyping up, Vampirella! However, this is unlike any way we’ve seen her before, or at least recently. When you think of Vampirella, I’m betting you think of space, monsters, aliens, Hell, the like… but probably not the noir genre. Oddly enough, it works and it works extremely well. So well, in fact, that I want more! I know we’ve already got Priest’s “Vampirella” and Sniegoski’s “Vampirella: Armageddon” but I’m greedy. With that cliffhanger, I fully expect a spin-off to come from this. As for the pacing, it’s super easy to keep up with while the jokes and bombastic action keep things fun!
Return to do more artwork in “Giant Sized Savage Tales” is Chapo who did excellent work here as well. The action and angles made things feel in your face while the shading lent airs of spooky mystery. As for Remalante Jr’s color choices here, they did the perfect job of capturing that classic noir vibe. If it’s this team working on it, I will more than happily take a spin-off!
Final Thoughts – 9.5/10
I can’t imagine this having been an easy feat for David Avallone to take on as sole writer, but he did an absolutely stellar job! Paired with this insane team of artists and Omi Remalante Jr., they created something that was truly special from start to finish. Whether you enjoy none or all of these characters, I can’t recommend this book enough. If you get the chance to read it, do.

Writing
What a runaway train this was. Chip Zdarsky took us on a crazy ride in this issue, and I loved it. Last issue left off on a dark note, and we jumped right into the action in this issue. This issue and Captain America #9 were things of absolute beauty. I felt like I was tracking this series pretty well, but man, did Zdarksy pull the rug right out from under me.
The twist in this issue is one that you may or may not see coming but when it happens the way it still catches you off guard is a testament to the quality of writing Zdarksy has done on this series. I’ve never been a huge fan of General Ross, but Zdarsky makes him an even more unlikable villain in this series, and I love that. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, Zdarsky throws a wrench in your plans. This one kept me on the edge of my seat and I never saw this one coming. Easily some of Zdarky’s best work in an already illustrious career. If this kind of grit and killer storytelling is what is in store for readers with Armageddon, then I am sold. Sign me up.
Art

Valerio Schiti and Romulo Fajardo Jr. really put some spectacular work into this issue. The art and colors, particularly involving Captain America and Salvation, are mind-blowingly beautiful. Joe Caramagna does an awesome job using speech bubbles and lettering for emphasis and big moments, and his SFX grabs your attention in the best way.
Schiti’s work on this issue is phenomenal. Despite the obvious gritty setting of Latveria, each line feels dense or crisp exactly when the story calls for it. Captain America’s conflict with Salvation is a thing of beauty, drawn to perfection.
Romulo Fajardo Jr. continues to bring these images to life in a way that creates poster-worthy panels of vibrant color amidst the dark Latverian landscape. This team is incredible, and the work shines as some of the best currently available in Marvel Comics
Final Thoughts
This issue was a one-two punch, combined with last week’s Captain America. Chip Zdarsky continues to produce some of the finest Captain America comics ever written. This entire series is phenomenal. This issue left me speechless. You can ask the rest of the Nerd Initiative team what a feat that is.
Overall Grade: 10/10

Until next time, may your pulls be magical, and your multiverse remain stable.
In the previous issue, we witnessed our main character, Dillon, unleash the exact level of violence she’s willing to dish out in her mission to save her sister. Now hitting the road with her new partner, Colebee, Dillon’s out to track down those who may have her. Will she learn anything new? What will she find? Read on to see if you’re enticed enough to find out!
So much like in “Ripcord #2”, the writing from Cullen Bunn remains top-notch here. Where that felt like an adrenaline rush, the action takes much more of a backseat here in favor of story and character development. I personally felt this was done in a clever way, as we get Colebee and Dillon asking each other questions. Since these two just met, this feels very organic and not at all out of place while keeping the story moving forward.
Bunn keeps up the dread from the previous issue, but in a much different way here. Where the last book showed violence, here he shows just how this gang treats those they kidnap. Not with violence, but with pure depravity, showing how addiction can take its toll. If mine is the first review that you see, then let me warn you that this story is not for the faint of heart, and it’s utterly fantastic. This isn’t even to mention the cliffhanger that left me on the edge of my seat!
The Art
Matching the writing, the artwork, and coloring of Aneke and Martín are near perfect. I absolutely love Aneke’s style, as her penciling keeps an edge to it. It’s like she doesn’t play by the rules. Both the pencil work and detailing keep perfectly in line with the story and its tone, creating a perfect cohesion that keeps your eyes glued.
The colors of Martín only work to enhance this point even further. When Dillon seems to be feeling her most hopeful, we get this backdrop of a beautiful sunset colored by an amazing blend of reds, oranges, and yellows. However, the second she starts to lose that hope, she’s surrounded by pitch black, deep reds, and cold blues. The work here is pure genius.

Final Thoughts – 9.5/10
Bunn, Aneke, and Martín continue to prove that they’re a force to be reckoned with. From the insane artwork to the deep storytelling, “Ripcord” continues to say that it deserves to exist and will do whatever it takes to get the recognition it deserves. This should be an immediate add to your pull list if it isn’t already.

Writing
I really feel like Yifan Jiang hit his stride in this issue. This issue flowed a lot more than previous issues. I loved the decision to include not only Karnak but also give us the version of Karnak from Ellis’ run, rather than the older version. One of the things this issue did well was finally tie together some of the threads that have been building throughout the issue.
Jiang crafted what is easily the best issue of this series so far. Everything felt organized and like the story just flowed. This issue really sets the tone for where the series is going. It really felt like readers were allowed to understand the task that is ahead and how everyone will have to work together to make it happen.
Art
Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun #3 cover by Francis Yu and Federico Blee. Image from Marvel Comics
Paco Medina and Alessandro Miracolo continue to shine on this series. This entire series has been beautiful to read, if at times narrative-heavy. Even when the narrative was thick, Medina and Miracolo show an adept attention to detail.
I love the way Medina and Miracolo drew Karnak. It was nice to see him drawn with such great flow and action. Additionally, Ceci de la Cruz did an amazing job with the colors in this issue. The colors really popped and felt impactful. Some of the scenes really utilized colors to set the tone, and Travis Lanham continues to do some of his best work so far in this series on lettering.
Final Thoughts
Issue #3 was the best issue of the series so far. A lot of the buildup finally started to pay off, and it feels like the series is really starting to find its legs. The narrative has felt heavy at times, and now begins to feel like it’s flowing well. I can’t wait to see where this ride goes from here. The Deadly Hands of K’un-Lun is turning into a real treat, and it can only get better.
