Who Was First?
Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme and Master of the Mystic Arts, has been the ultimate magical guardian of the Marvel Universe since his debut. Throughout his adventures, he has battled interdimensional demons and rival sorcerers alike. However, there was one villain who was the first to truly test Dr. Stephen Strange – Baron Mordo.

Baron Mordo
Debuting in Strange Tales #111 back in 1963, Baron Mordo was a Transylvanian nobleman who was also a student of the Ancient One alongside Doctor Strange. After Strange thwarted Mordo’s plot to kill the Ancient One, he became their apprentice and later inherited the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
Ever since this event, Baron Mordo has returned many times over the years to do battle with Doctor Strange, having instead become a servant of the ruler of the Dark Dimension, Dormammu, leaving these two characters locked in an everlasting rivalry in the fight between good and evil.
