Writing
This was a really deep issue. I’ll admit as a nerd myself I really dug all the science and quantum mechanics conversations within this issue. Wanda has had to prove herself time and time again as worthy of the title of Sorcerer Supreme in issue after issue. It was nice to see someone who finally believes here right out of the gate.

Speaking of gates, the Marvel Universe becomes a lot more terrifying when you realize that there are things hidden in the Astral Plane within plain sight. Orlando used that mechanic effectively in this issue, showing us not only how much bigger other universes are, such as the quantum realm, but also how much more of this realm is revealed when you consider other planes. This appears to be setting up for the conflict with the Extinction King, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Art
Francesco Mortarino steps in on art for this issue and does a beautiful job. The level of detail that Mortarino puts into all of the art is spectacular. I really enjoyed Mortarino’s use of shading on Wanda’s outfit to give her some depth in the panels.
Ruth Redmond continues to stun with colors, creating vibrant panels that feel poster-worthy. Her coloring for Turin from the Quantum Realm is gorgeous, creating making the character majestic and regal to go with his knowledge. Joe Sabino does a wonderful job navigating the lettering for this issue in what is a narrative heavy issue.
Final Thoughts
This was an enjoyable issue of Sorcerer Supreme. it’s always interesting when a new character gets introduced, and the art and color on Turin is really something awesome. I’m excited to see how the Extinction King storyline continues to play out.
Overall Grade: 9/10
