The Story:
In a world where the forces of light and the forces of dark are eternilly at war, one creature is prophesied to end the war and the world… enter the D’Orc. Half Dwarf and half Orc armed with a magical shield that has a thirst for violence, the D’Orc has no desire to end the world, he is just looking for food and a little peace and quiet.

The Writing:
This issue was such a breath of fresh air and that is in no small part in thanks to writer Brett Bean! This issue blends together epic fantasy tropes with humor and violence in such a perfect way! The dialogue is quick and witty, the action is hard hitting, and the story is so engaging that I cannot wait to pick up another issue!
The Art:
Brett Bean and Jean-François Beaulieu turned in a fantastic first issue. The art style lends perfectly to the over the top story, with just the right amount of bombastic blood and gore. The page layouts for the last few pages are the highlight of the issue for me. The way each panel is split between the light and the dark, each one finishing the sentence of the one before it, showing the differences and similarities of the characters on both sides of the conflict is a genius set up for what’s to come!
Overall Grade: 10/10
I cannot say enough about D’Orc! I picked up this book based on the cover alone, which is perfection, and I got exactly what I was promised! Over the top action, witty dialogue, and a story that I cannot wait to keep reading! 10/10 perfect first issue!
