Geiger #19 – Hell Hath No Fury like the Glowing Woman

The last time we saw the Glowing Woman, she had set up Geiger to release her from the glowing curse. When it looked as if that would kill him, she stopped. His death is one she doesn’t want on her conscience. However, there are many others that she feels differently about.

The Story for Geiger #19

Ashley Arden, the glowing woman, is cursed like Tariq Geiger. However, her past is quite different. While Tariq lost his wife and children, Ashley lost her childhood. Not only was she cursed with glowing powers at a young age, but she was also trafficked. Something no one, especially a child, should ever experience. While Ashley doesn’t claim to be a hero, she’s leaving behind her a path of survivors. As well as a path of blood, explosions, and angry psychopaths.

As she continues to find her place in this wasteland of a world, a certain someone caught her trail. Which wrapped up this issue with an audible and excited “OH!” from me.

The Art

Geiger is a wasteland with glowing people, tortured kids, and explosions. The art does an amazing job of taking these dark circumstances and turning them into something beautiful. Every scene where Ashley is lit up is absolute perfection. Then, coupled with the faces of fear, anger, and absolute filth, the art nails every single page. You not only enjoy the beauty of every page, but you also feel it.

Overall Grade: 9.5/10

Geiger #19 was an absolutely entertaining and satisfying comic. While Geiger himself was not the star this week, his presence was felt, and Ashley killed it. In more ways than one. I love a hero that lives in the gray. The ones that insist they’re not the hero. These are the heroes a world in apocalypse times needs.

If you fear Geiger is too far in to jump in now, you could not be more wrong. There is always a recap in the beginning, and before you know it, you’ll be completely sucked in. I absolutely love this world and this issue. The cameo that popped up in the end got me even more excited for what’s to come.
