ULTIMATE UNIVERSE #1:

We’re officially two years in from the start of the Ultimate Universe, where The Maker used all the weapons at his disposal to create a Marvel Universe without superheroes.

But as these stories generally go, our favorite superheroes like Spider-Man, The Guardians and more have found their way not only to being the hero they were destined to be but to each other as well.

And thus, this story picks up on the Guardians search for more heroes that can stand up to The Maker and his diabolical schemes.

The Art:

This is just fun. if you’ve been reading the Ultimate Universe, you know the blending and twisting of the characters we know and love has been something truly incredible to watch and read.

This book takes things to the next level. So many pieces and parts of heroes and villains you love, but blended together like some delicious Marvel smoothie.

Pay close attention to the middle of the book, where the art truly becomes fascinating. That’s the beauty of compendium books like this that take and unite talents. Here, we have a shift in art I haven’t seen before!

Marvel Knights: The Punisher #2 – Is This the End for Frank Castle?

The Writing:

This story is one that is riveting, but also one that might have casual readers struggling to follow. If you are a fan of the Ultimate Universe, this will be a flawless book with action, emotion and a different side to our favorite Marvel characters.

If you are not, the Ultimate Guardians might be a little hard to follow, including the new challenges they face in bringing the Maker’s plan to an end.

Seeing Ultron as a hero and close friend of Cosmo is a site to see and something casual Marvel fans will either love or hate. This world’s Nova Prime, along with a new Star-Lord is truly a sight to see, but not for those without an open mind.

But the beauty is in how it all comes together in one glorious comic symphony. It’s a story that deep thinkers will absolutely love.

Overall Grade: 9/10

While this takes awhile for the casual reader to grasp, all the new nuances of this universe and new shades of classic characters, this book is truly something special, juts like the Ultimate marvel Universe.
