Catch up with X-Men: Age of Revelation with Radioactive Spider-Man #1!

The Story

With the devastation and tragedy the Age of Revelation has brought onto the characters of the Marvel World, of course Deadpool would be impacted too. Seeing Deadpool X years later after the X-Virus spread throughout the world, you could say that he got the worst of the effects, all thanks to his healing factor. Due to Deadpool having his super healing factor, the X-Virus wasn’t able to kill him. Instead, he’s left in this in-between state of living and dead that makes him much closer to a zombie.

Whie that’s terrifying enough, it gets so much worse for Deadpool, which is pretty on brand for Deadpool. Not only is he in a limbo state between living and death, but his body is not fully his own. Actually it’s driven by hunger, so when he needs to feed, he cannot stop his body from killing. And what does his body crave? human flesh. So, he is a passenger in his body as he sees the chaos that unfolds when he lays his eyes on his next prey.

The Writing

Undeadpool #1 brings a much darker aspect to the Age of Revelation that comes just in time for the spooky season of Halloween. Tim Seeley is able to send a chill up your spine while you’re able to empathize with Deadpool as he experiences the mutant murders.

Besides the story of Undeadpool, we also see some really interesting mutants that came from the spreading of the X-Virus. We’ve seen many characters change from the side effects of the X-Virus, but we’ve seen little of what could come from new characters after the detonation of the Gene Bomb. All in all, Seeley keeps you locked into the story, keeps you on your toes, and leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes excited to read the next issue.

The Art

When reading such a dark and spooky story, the art has to match the energy, which is exactly what Carlos Magno ensures. With the interesting knew characters, Magno makes sure they all have their own limelight to stand out and show their fantastic powersets. Along with the new characters, you can’t not mention how terrifying Deadpool looked throughout the comic. With a very zombie-like look, paired with his flesh-eating antics, Magno knocks it out of the park with nailing the energy of the horror genre in Undeadpool #1.

Alongside Magno is Guru-eFX, who handles the colors of Undeadpool #1. With his use of darker colors and expert shading, Guru-eFX is able to capture the essence of a horror comic and integrate it into the comic, sending a chill up your spine. As for the lettering, Joe Sabino lends his excellent talents to create a perfect flow of the dialogue and handles the narrative throughout the comic expertly.

Final Thoughts

Undeadpool #1 is the perfect comic to get you into the spooky spirit of Halloween, while being an excellent addition to X-Men: Age of Revelation.

Overall Grade – 9/10
