Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m going to be reviewing the second issue of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion from Marvel Comics!

Miles Morales has left the 616 universe, and is now in the 6160 universe! But that’s not the worst part, he isn’t alone! His baby sister Billie is there as well, and now it’s a race against time to rescue her! So let’s jump into it!

Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #2 by Deniz Camp & Cody Ziglar (Writers), Jonas Scharf (Artist), Edgar Delgado (Color Artist), VC’s Corey Petit (Letterer), Sara Pichelli & Tamra Bonvillain (Cover Art) is a tremendous issue that delivers on every level!

The Story

Deniz Camp & Cody Ziglar are a great tandem, and the story reflects it. The story is split into two parts, and all of them are great. First, is the story surrounding Billie in Wakanda. I haven’t read too much of Black Panther yet, I have to play catchup. So it was a fantastic intro for me. Second is what’s going on with Miles, Wasp & Giant Man in their ongoing pursuit to find Billie.

I can’t emphasize enough how great the scenes in Wakanda were, and it was my favorite sequences of the entire issue. It was so different from what I’ve read with Ultimate Spider-Man & The Ultimates, and it really makes me want to catch up on Ultimate Black Panther!

Also, the tease with Miles & The Ultimates? Be sure to keep an eye on that! Because I feel that sequence wasn’t done as a simple throwaway line, and willl probably come into play down the line! And HOLY COW that final page! Man this series is setting up SO MUCH!

The Artwork

Jonas Scharf does a great job in this issue, along with Edgar Delgado as well. This is the first time I’m seeing Scharf’s work and I have to say it’s quite impressive. I have pretty high standards when it comes to the artwork of the new Ultimate universe, and Scharf delivers in spades. And the color from Delgado is great as well. Everything pops off the page so vibrantly and is tremendous!

FINAL POINT: Do not skip this issue at all! Deniz Camp is one of the best writers Marvel has going in the Ultimates universe, and together with Cody Ziglar the pen a story that is truly one of the best Marvel has done this year. Together with the tremendous artwork from Scharf & Delgado, this issue needs to be at the top of your read list!

Overall Grade: 9/10
