Another New York Comic Con 2026 in the books.
As someone who has been an attendee for the last three years, this one has to be my favorite. Coming together with the Nerd Initiative team as a collective, was amazing and monumental. As all of us having different love and appreciation for all fandoms, we wanted to cover and talk about everything that happened. This article will cover some of the things I personally attended, but, there was far more that was going on.
DC Next Level and Beyond
With the addition of many comic book authors, including Jamal Campbell, Matt Fraction. Steve Foxe, Matt Fraction, Joshua Williamson, Cody Zigler, and Stephanie Williams. Many of the announcements that included some familiar heroes like Batman and even Super Boy. Some highlighted superheroes that I am personally interested to read are Vixen by Stephanie Williams and Static Shock by Cody Zigler. I really can’t wait to see all the superheroes come to life, in their respected comics. DC is definitely making a big statement with these characters that resonate with people. The most fun part as well, is for me to able to sit with many members of the Nerd Initiative team.

Image Comics With Kyle Higgins
Kyle Higgins did a fantastic job explaining the Massive-Verse. All of the panelists, including Kelly McMahon (The Dead Lucky), Rod Reis (C.O.W.L) and Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black and No/One). All of them explained their experiences with different companies, and why this is so different than the others. Kyle expressed his interest in trying to do something new with superheroes. He was really inspiring and motivating to get involved with reading these specific comics. Kyle also stressed that you didn’t need to read anything beforehand, you can just jump in where they are. I am looking forward to reading all of the comics that they have created and put so much passion into.

Jim Lee and Friends
Jim Lee who is the head of DC Comics, had his usual panel that he has at New York and San Diego Comic Con. This con was very different though. He brought out many people, including the head of the Warner Brothers Animation. Jim talks about a lot of updates and the biggest surprise was Absolute Batman. The NYCC Jim Lee and Friends audience got a chance to see very rough draft footage of what the Absolute Batman series would look like. Jim was so excited as to what is coming. He had a chance to chat with all of the comic writers and illustrators about their individual works that are coming. Unfortunately no film or photos were allowed at this panel.

Naruto: What’s Next?
This panel was the last one of my night. It brought Japanese voice actor Junko Takeuchi who voices Naruto Uzamaki. As well as Japanese voice actor Noriaki Sugiyama as the voice of Sasuke Uchiha. The moderator was able to ask and translate questions that many of the fans had. Also it was announced that Naruto will be teaming up with Ninku in a brand new series. It seems that Ninku is a very playful and very mischievous, so this will give Naruto and team some trouble. I cannot wait until the series arrives on Crunchyroll.

New York Comic Con 2026 has been an interesting time. I can’t wait see what 2027 has in store. Please if you can, make your way to New York Comic Con. Definitely you have a fantastic, and wonderful time being immersed in Fandom.
