Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the 3rd issue of the Bad Batch storyline of the Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories series from Dark Horse Comics!

We’re back with our favorite band of misfit clone troopers, and things are really getting interesting now! After a harrowing adventure on Kessel, our heroes are now hot on the trail of a mysterious figure! And it’s a figure that I’m sure looks very familiar to long time Star Wars fans! So let’s jump into it!
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch #3 by Michael Moreci (Writer), Reese Hannigan (Penciler), Elisabetta D’Amico (Inker), Michael Atiyeh (Colorist), Comicraft’s Tyler Smith & Bobby Bradford (Letterer’s) is another fantastic issue in the series from the entire creative team, and is one you’re not going to want to miss.
The Story
The story is the strong point of this entire series thus far, and that continues into this issue. Michael Moreci continues to pen a story that feels like it was meant for our tv screens. And the surprises are a plenty in this issue!
The story has everything you would want out of a story involving the bad batch. A little bit of espionage, a little bit of sleuthing, a little bit of action. Unquestionably it’s all blended together brilliantly. The high point of the story has to be towards the end when the “mysterious” figure is finally revealed.
I won’t reveal who it is here, but it was kind of obvious if you were paying attention in the issues leading up. Plus it makes sense to find out the identity given what came out this week on Disney+. Along with that I also enjoyed the cameo we saw from a bounty hunter from The Clone Wars. In spite of the fact that it isn’t Boba Fett, it was a very plesent surprise. Especially because all we’ve seen or heard of them was a quick mention in the Han Solo movie in 2018.
The Art
It should be noted, that not only is the story great but the artwork is as top notch as ever. The work done by Hanningan, D’Amico & Atiyeh do an incredible job. Especially when it comes to adapting these characters that we all know so well from the series.
FINAL POINT
If you’re a fan of this series when it was on Disney+ then you’re going to love this. The story feels like it could fit right into the show, and the artwork helps that immensely. This is a series you will not regret buying, and you should read asap!
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
