Plague House Thrills and Kills

The brutality in issue 1 was quite a shock and yet somehow in issue two it raises to a new level. The opening of the issue sets the tone with a brutal murder. Tensions between team members are at an all time high and when Del goes on a talk show, he puts the final nail in the coffin.

In Case You Missed it: Plague House #1 The Life and Death of the Paranormal

Ever since Del, Jacob, and Holland investigated the McCabe House, their work hasn’t been the same. After every job someone connected to their investigations winds up murdered. Their relationships are strained and the stress of it all is tearing them apart.

The story develops quite nicely in this issue. I will admit at being confused a few times but once the pieces started to fall in place, the twist becomes an excellent reveal. The violent action gets intense and at some points even feels uncomfortable. Sprinkled in between these moments are some character dialogue scenes. The interactions between the three protagonists and deep dives into Del’s mind and motivations. Conrad keeps us on our toes with a creative mix of story telling and character development.

The Art of Brutality in Plague House

The artwork is dark and visceral. The intensity in the violence radiates off of the panels through shocking imagery and perfect color choices. Chisholm brings a raw and grounded design and vibe to the story that makes it feel even more intense. The artwork helps move the story, but you will find yourself stopping to take in all of the details and vibrant colors.

Overall Grade 9.5/10

Plague House is a deadly good time. The story is intriguing and takes us on a wild ride with big twists! The artwork is phenomenal. Both of these things make for an engaging read. Issue 2 takes the solid foundation of the first issue and builds up the framework for something amazing. I’m so ready for another issue! What about you?
