Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m reviewing the 3rd issue of Star Wars: Legacy of Vader from Charles Soule & Marvel comics!

Kylo Ren is on a mission to delve into the past of his grandfather Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader)! And that journey has led him right into the clutches of none other than Gardulla The Hutt! Let’s jump into it!
Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #3 by Charles Soule (Writer), Luke Ross (Artist), Nolan Woodard (Color Artist), VC’s Joe Caramanga (Letterer) & Derrick Chew (Cover Art) is a fantastic issue that does a lot for Kylo Ren.
The Story
The story picks up where the last one left off with Kylo captured by Gardulla The Hutt on Tatooine. Now if you’re not familiar (or perhaps don’t remember), Gardulla owned Anakin & his mother when they were slaves BEFORE Watto.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW
Charles Soule does a tremendous job with the story. He shows Kylo in a different light then we’re used to seeing him. Furthermore, pitting Kylo against Vader (not in a literal sense) and making Kylo look inwards is a great move at this point in the story.
Watching Kylo Ren figure out how to work his way out of this without being able to destroy everything with his ligthsaber/the Force was awesome to see. And I really enjoyed seeing this side of Kylo. It adds some depth.
The Artwork
The best shot in the issue is easily the final one. I won’t spoil what it is, but it’s an important part of Star Wars/Skywalker history. And getting to see what it looks like for the first time in over 50 years (in the Star Wars timeline) is going to be a real treat to see in the next issue.
FINAL POINT: Charles Soule is making this issue about as can’t miss as you can. I had high expectations for the series, and he’s exceeding them on every level possible. The story is incredible, the artwork is tremendous & they’re blending together in one of the best Star Wars comics ever crafted. If this isn’t in your pull-list you need to rectify this IMMEDIATELY!
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
