Riley is having a rough morning since he woke up as a literal monster. He confides in his mom, and she takes it in stride. It’s almost like this wasn’t anything unusual to her.

The Monster Upstairs

Patty is trying to get her kids out the door for school, but Riley is running behind. When she goes upstairs to find out why, his new look is unveiled to her. She seems to take it in stride and makes him get in the car and delivers him to school. Once at school, it seems like no one else is phased by Riley’s new appearance either.

Later, Patty goes to Amy’s house where we find out what happened to their friend Kat years ago. It is also revealed that they are using dark magic to find out who killed Kat. Will they be able to find the killer? Are they looking in the right place? And does any of this tie into Riley’s condition?

A Killer Seance

FML #2 stepped up the mystery and at the same time revealed just a little more to the story. Kelly Sue DeConnick is weaving a wonderful story that is unfolding before our eyes. The slow burn of the story and reveals leaves you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

The punk rock art style is simply awesome. David Lòpez brings a unique flare with the art in this book. The way the panels are set up is also unique and very cool. The color pallet and letters add all the feelings and really bring the emotion out in each panel.

Final Thoughts

FML #2 is a great second issue in this original and unique story. If you are looking for an original story that’s different from everything else out there, give this book a shot. This is a no brainer pick up at your LCS this week.
