Assassin’s Creed Visionaries starts an epic tale of fierce warriors that are fighting in a war. There are about four combination of stories from each warrior, and their prospective on how to fight. Most of the stories are also really traditional, and it gives a nod to the different cultures around the world. A lot of it centers around Japanese culture, because of their fighting styles, and how they use their swords.
A lot of their journey, takes place in the same country. At one point, all the warriors have to set sail on boats. The only way to get somewhere was to get on the boat, and then they were able to attack other warriors. All of the tasks were simple, if someone was to be killed, they have to do it quickly. No noise, and swiftly just like a true warrior does.
I really enjoy the art, it’s really detailed with all of the graphic scenes. There is no holding back with how the killings are displayed. I also enjoy that the art has a specific reason for each panel. Each comic panel gives a backstory as to why each warrior looks and also feels the way they do.
One thing I would say, is that they all feel very clumped together. That one warrior can’t do too much without the others. I’m really looking for individuality when reading about these characters. I also am looking forward to the world-building that will eventually happen. I feel that they travel too fast, and don’t take their time with exploring where they are. I’m hoping that in issue number two, there will be more information about all the characters.
I give this a 8/10.
