Space Ghost Recalls Zorak As His Most Dangerous Enemy
Zorak has escaped from prison and is looking to fullfill his crazy cult prophecy by unleashing his Mythical God Lokar on the universe. I’m in right there, you now? This issue was a fantastic, fun, thrilling adventure from begging to end.
As Space Ghost explains to Jace and Jan who Zorak is and the history they have, it’s made clear that even though Zorak is a nut job, he’s extremely capable and dangerous. SG’s sidekicks are ready to jump in and help in any way that they can, but Space Ghost believes that this is one enemy that is above their pay grade.

Those Meddlesome Kids!
Of course, we know this two aren’t gonna listen and when SG flies off to Zorak’s last known hideout, they answer a call for help that turns out to be where Zorak actually is. Space Ghost is left to battle with a huge guardian, pushing himself to the limit, all while Jan and Jace find themselves in over their heads. This one ends on a cliffhanger, putting Space Ghost in a precarious position that will be a lot of fun to see play out in the next issue.
David Pepose Understands Space Ghost
David Pepose OWNS this character now as far as I’m concerned. I love the direction he has taken the character and it always makes for a fun and exciting issue, no matter the situation or setting. Each issue peels back another layer to Space Ghost and expands upon the lore of this world. There’s a gritty, dark vigilante vibe about him that is balanced out by the innocence of Jan and Jace. It creates a well rounded dynamic that keeps the reader engaged.

One of the highlights for me in this issue was Space Ghost explaining who Zorak is and recounting their history to Jan and Jace. It’s simply done in about 3 pages, but I felt like I got a wealth of information and it grabbed my attention in a way that was begging for more!
Out of This World Art in Space Ghost
As for Jonathan Lau…he might be one of the best in the business right now. Every page, every panel is begging to be on canvas and hanging in my home. Space Ghost always looks so sleek and intimidating. It’s a simple design that is taken to the next level by Lau. In this issue he brings Zorak to life, who like the other Space Ghost villains, don’t really strike fear into anyone. However, in this issue Zorak is terrifying. It had to have been a daunting challenge to bring such a strange character with a very challenging biology to the page, but Lau does it expertly.
Color Me Impressed
The colors by Andrew Dalhouse highlight the drawings of Lau. Zorak is washed in oranges and reds, making him look deadly and deranged. The green is so grounded that he feels more organic than cartoonish. Where Dalhouse really soars is the battle between SG and Titanor. The play of light in each of their energy blasts is beautiful.
Everything Points to 10/10
This issue was a certified banger and I can’t wait to see the final showdown between SG and Zorak. Pepose creates a rich and deep history for this world in only a finite amount of space. His understanding of this world and its lore shows and he passes that passion on to the reader. The art team takes that passion on puts it to the page in every single panel. The colors are vibrant and playful while not risking too much of the seriousness of the settings. High marks all the way around!
