Vamp Problems
The last we left Wolverine, Nightguard turned Wolverine into a vampire per his instructions. When Alyssa caught up to Wolverine, she made it clear she wanted him to be her king, not Maverick. Alyssa has been playing Maverick in order to get to Wolverine. Now that Wolverine is turned, Alyssa demands the two men duel to the death to be her king. Wolverine’s usual inner dialogue is now accompanied by Alyssa’s voice, who is coaxing him into killing Maverick. Wolverine falls under her vampy spell and attempts to follow her instruction, except they’re interrupted by a loud alarm warning of a security breach.
Nightguard has broken into the command center, finding herself in the heart of the vampire compound. She’s then attacked by the high-tech mercenary vampires but finishes them with ease. She’s then joined by Alyssa who states to Wolverine that she has competition for his affection, to which he replies “not for long”. As a results, Nightguard must fight off Wolverine, who’s a vampire under the influence of the Queen of the Vampires.
The Art
Wolverine: Blood Hunt #4 is exactly what you want from a story about Wolverine during the Blood Hunt. It’s violent, it’s gruesome, and it’s perfect. The amount of details put into each panel is something I’ll always be in awe of. Added with the dark toned colors to set the tone as dark and gritty makes it perfect for this plot. Wolverine: Blood Hunt has been illustrated in such a beautiful and dark way throughout the entire run. Kudos to the artists, because they truly showcased their talents.
The Writing
Tom Waltz knocked it out of the park, yet again. This ending installment of Wolverine: Blood Hunt was a perfect conclusion. The action played loudly throughout the entire run, but especially in Wolverine: Blood #4. I really loved the different plot twists throughout the comic. I wouldn’t have been able to guess most of what took place would actually happen. Above all, I really appreciate how this comic kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I give this a 9.5 out of 10
