Space Ghost #2:
Space Ghost has saved Jan, Jace, and Blip and is now headed to his home base to keep them safe. However, he may have bitten off more than he can chew as the trio aren’t ready to sit idly by. As they continue to investigate the death of their father the monsters of space lurk in the depths ready to pounce. Issue 2 brings an action-packed punch and forms an unlikely alliance of heroes.
The Art:
Jonathan and Andrew team up on this issue, bringing life into the darkness of space. The flashback sequences are drawn and colored in a haunting and tragic way that contrasts with our present-day adventure, showcasing Space Ghost’s pain without telling us. When it comes to the action, the pages are lit up with powerful energy and light, much like the Fourth of July.
As for our costumes, they all resemble one another, and the final shot of this issue must be hung as a poster in every room. All in all, the designs and colors blend, crafting excitement and adventure before our eyes.
The Writing:
David is clearly having fun as it oozes from the dialogue within this story. Jace is the kid inside all of us, ready to leap into adventure at a moment’s notice, while Dax is the grumbly old man who lurks within and can’t help but let the fact he is endeared to them show. Taylor accents the fun and really hammers home the excitement within the panels bringing together this fantastic second issue.
Overall:
This story is fun. Just plain old-fashioned fun. It makes me feel like a kid again who would look at the stars and imagine a limitless story and adventure. Beneath the energy, the team underlies Ghost’s tragic backstory, reminding us that no hero is without pain within. Space Ghost is absolutely dynamite and should be at the top of everyone’s read pile!
