RECAP: PREVIOUS REVIEW
Dustin and his crew are busy trying to get El and Raphael out of the machine they are hooked up to. Meanwhile, inside the machine, Stockman is facing off against the duo when El uses her powers to free them and thus the crew captures him and leads him to tell them his plan.
Over at the subway Will and the remainder defeat the creatures and head into the upside down where they discover something even more menacing at work.
The Art:
Fero and Sofie really went to work on this issue. The way they use the colors setting the tones and bringing in the uses of reds and black colors when fighting in the subway was extremely well done.
This issue is the duo’s strongest yet as their talent shines brightly. The contrast between the lab and the subway paints a wonderful tone for this issue. There is one scene where Michelangelo utilizes fiery Knunchucks that is my favorite scene from this run yet.
The Writing:
I feel Chittock really does his strongest work yet in this issue. Eleven showcases her mighty abilities and the way they showcase Raphaels’ passion and anger really set the dire tone. One thing that I loved was that the team gave Will a major upcoming role and something to do in this issue. His bravery is on full display and he knows what is at stake and steps up to the plate.
Final Thoughts:
The third entry in this limited series was by far the strongest entry yet. The entire team brings their absolute best and it shows in this issue. We continue to build up to an epic finale and all of the characters are shining brighter than ever across both franchises and this story just makes so much sense.
