The Story:
The Bone Witch has trapped D’Orc in a crystal to keep him safe. While inside, Fate takes D’Orc on a highly inappropriate trip in time to see where he came from… whether he wants to see it or not!
The Writing:
Brett Bean cannot be stopped. The writing in this series is consistently incredible. The creativity in this story is unmatched and when a trope is brought in, I don’t see it coming. There is a “twist” in this issue that should have had me rolling my eyes, but instead, I laughed with glee when I read it. At this point, I have run out of positive things to say about Brett Bean’s writing so I’ll just have to start repeating myself. D’Orc is a career defining achievement!

The Art:
Just like the writing, Brett Bean’s art is stellar. Add into that Frank William’s color work and you get a masterpiece of chaotic fantasy action and mayhem! Each page is dripping with style and fun, and it’s all such a blast to look at. I’ve never seen gore depicted in such a “fun” way! (Was that a weird statement?) This artwork is just that, fun in every sense of the word.
Overall Grade: 10/10
Chaotic, gory, fantasy perfection! D’Orc has been my book of the month since the first issue and it doesn’t look like that is going to change any time soon. This book shows exactly what you can do with the comic medium!
