The Story
The thrilling story of Batman continues when he gets a message relayed to him that his presence is wanted at Arkham Towers. The person he goes to see isn’t supposed to be able to have any contact with the outside world. The only people Patient Ten is supposed to have contact with is Dr. Zeller, who’s his therapist and doctor.

Going into Room Ten, Batman gets a full look at Patient Ten, who is actually the Joker. It’s clear Joker has been through many medical procedures and tests, but the question is if he’s the same Joker or not. Does he remember everything he’s done? What’s his angle?
With a looming feeling of manipulation, Batman has no reason to trust anything Joker says. Until the Joker says he has a warning, but not for Batman, for Bruce.
Matt Fraction continues to make this run better and better with every issue. Fraction absolutely nailed the heavy tension in the conversation between Batman and Joker, which I loved. You can feel the Joker being up to his old ways in the way he got the message to Batman, but it’s unclear exactly how much he’s changed given his current condition. I’m really looking forward to what’s next because this issue is the start of something big and if it’s anything like this run, it’ll be fantastic.
The Art
Jorge Jiménez, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles put their talents on full display in Batman #7. Jiménez brought so much depth to the pages with his incredible detailing work. The panels with the Joker were absolutely chilling, which added a lot of depth.
Morey was able to bring so much vibrancy to the panels, even though it mostly took place in a hospital room. I really loved the juxtaposition of the Joker’s green to Batman’s blue. It was nothing short of stunning. Clayton Cowles nailed the intensity between Batman and Joker through their dialogue, establishing the emotions of the story with ease. Once again, the artists did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
Final Thoughts
Batman continues to get better and better, bringing more depth and more excitement to the story. Bringing in the Joker in such a chilling way was handled perfectly by the creative team.
