From the world of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, ‘The Shiver of Christmas Town’ continues to build this holiday mash up of a world. With new and friendly faces, you’re sucked in faster than you can say, “WORM’S WORT!”

The Story for The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Shiver of Christmas Town #2

An adorable new creation, Shiver, is in Halloween Town, and Oogie got his hands on her. Halloween Town’s best trick-or-treaters do their best to cause chaos, while simultaneously getting Shiver over to Christmas Town. The residents of Christmas Town are about to celebrate their first Halloween ever, and nothing can stop it from being a magical creepy affair. Or so they think.

The Art

I may be biased, as this classic is my all time favorite holiday movie for both Christmas and Halloween. However, if you love both holidays, you’ll love this art. Much like the film, you get the creepiness feel of Halloween, and that magic little feeling that only Christmas can incite. From Barrel’s mischievous little eyes, to Shiver’s secret, the art moved the story along perfectly.

The marshmallow on top of the hot chocolate, was toward the end for me. As someone who decorates for Christmas with Jack-O-Lanterns (and a lot of Sandy Claws decor), the last few scenes left a huge smile on my face.

Overall Grade: 8.5/10

The Nightmare Before Christmas was done so perfectly that it may be the one film I don’t feel I ever need a sequel for. However, I still love diving further into this world, and comic books are the perfect way to do that! You can enjoy the story as well as the art. Having known these characters for over 30 years, I could hear their voices as I was reading. I even found myself over exaggerating everything Oogie was saying. To all the other year round Halloween loving fans, definitely grab this comic. I think Shiver is shaping up to be the perfect new addition.

I picked this comic solely based on my love for all things The Nightmare Before Christmas. Then we unexpectedly lost a legend this past week. Catherine O’Hara, the voice of both Sally and Shock left this world all too soon. I’m so glad Tim Burton saw something in her, because I can’t imagine anyone else singing, “Sally’s Song.” So go grab this comic, maybe make something where you fold in the cheese, and toast a legend. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
