The Story/Writing for Harley Quinn X Elvira #4

Eda: The writing from Amanda Conner & Jimmy Palmiotti is witty, sharp, and very much fits the absurd and chaotic vibes of both Harley Quinn & Elvira. It’s very easy to tell that this crossover was a love letter to both characters by fans, for fans. This shows not just in how the characters speak, but in how they react or joke. A prime example lies in some of the meta jokes sprinkled throughout where if you know, then you know, such as DC currently having another crossover event as well with a certain other company.

Having read the other issues, it’s really interesting seeing where exactly this story is going. Starting from Harley just trying to get Elvira for a gig to now them being hunted down in Transylvania. I’m more than excited to see where things go from here.

Lauren: The girls wake up hungover and confused. A butler named Alfred (no not that one) catches them up about the events from the previous night. Harley and Elvira are attempting to lay low in Transylvania; however, nothing is ever so simple. As they attempt to enjoy the pleasantries of an old medieval castle, not all the inhabitants are happy to see two women of such caliber hanging around. In an attempt to save their own bacon, they find themselves in hot water… literally, and figuratively.

The Art

Eda: The art by Amanda Conner, Juan Samu and Walter Pereyara is very lively here and chock full of character and personality. Everything from the shading to the color blending and line work are very top notch. They work like a well made soup to really bring the settings and characters off the page. It’s spooky yet inviting in the absolute best way.

Lauren: Monsters, DC characters, action scenes, Transylvania… the art was gorgeous throughout. Every scene perfectly conveyed the reputation of Harley & Elvira, in both beauty and personality. Not only were our main characters a sight to see, so was the background. Whether it was a cameo, or a detail in the castle, every inch of Harley Quinn X Elvira was stunning.

Overall Grade: 10/10

Eda: 10/10 An absolute must read for any fans of Harley, Elvira or both. Conner, Palmiotti, Samu and Pereyara all came together to make something truly special, memorable and fun.

Lauren: 10/10 This is a hell of a fun meta story, with multiple laugh aloud moments featuring two absolute classic and badass characters. I have to agree with Eda, this is “an absolute must read for any fans of Harley, Elvira, or both.” Until next issue…Unpleasant dreams.
