The ending no one saw coming by Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, Keith Browning, Brad Simpson & Pat Brosseau from BOOM! Studios.

PREVIOUSLY:
Perennial Harbor’s mystery was unraveled. Melody Nelson has been relieving her own life memories in reverse. While at the same time we get to see the people, the families and the hierarchy that rules over this town. So many secrets and so many questions are still unanswered. But fortunately for Mel, her childhood friend Jesse Harmon came back to Perennial Harbor to rescue her from this haunting place. When I say nothing is what it seems, I feel it’s quite an understatement.
*SPOILERS FOR ISSUE #5*
FROM SOLICITATION:
“It’s the stunning conclusion of the mind-bending mystery from award-winning writers Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan! After a lifetime apart, Jesse Harmon and Melody Nelson have finally reunited — not a moment too soon either, as they prepare to take on the dark forces that have kept Perennial Harbor in its grip. Will their love be strong enough to defeat the STASIS SOCIETY once and for all?” from BOOM! Studios.”
JESSE & MEL REUNITED
Finally, Jesse and Melody are back together once again. Although they are decades apart from the last time they saw each other, they embraced like they were never apart. Their love and appreciation for each other is intact. But that’s where the good news ended. The town is spiraling, the people are begging for guidance, and the mysterious creatures are roaming the streets. And they are hungry.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
With Father Rogers dead, it was only a matter of time until Perennial Harbor descended into complete chaos. So, Mel pours gasoline on that fire by tearing apart this secret technology Father Rogers held in his church. In the end, Jesse managed to search, find, and extract Melody from this haunted town. But who’s to say if the outside world will be better for Melody at her advanced age. Especially after everything she went through.
HOW ABOUT THE ART?
Keith Browning and Brad Simpson absolutely nailed their debut in this medium. From the very first issue, all the way to this final installment. The world, the towns, the people, the creatures are all harrowing. This mystery horror sci-fi was so well executed, in part, because of the storytelling skills of these two artists. Both the penicils and the colors are exactly the perfect match for this tale.
OVERALL GARDE: 10/10
FINAL THOUGHTS
I know issue #4 was hinting at the plot twist at the end of this series. But I guess I was so submerged in the sci-fi and the horror that it went completely over my head. I say this in the best way possible. Because this was a multilayered story with a mystery told in reverse. So, props to Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan for their sleight of hand. Blink and you’ll miss it is a must read for fans of sci-fi, horror and thrillers.
