The Story
After the attack of the mutated X-Virus, the X-Vengers are on a time crunch to set things right. Revelation gave the team 3 hours to figure things out with President Wilson, or he will launch an attack worldwide. The X-Vengers, who are still mourning Scott and Vision, set off to meet with President Wilson, who is less than pleased with their arrival. Wilson says he can’t allow the team to land their jet because they’ve brought the virus with them according to Redwing’s examination.
Despite assuring the president that there’s nothing to worry about, the team has no choice. That is, until they’re attacked by a mysterious force that causes their jet to crash. Could this be the force that created the mutated X-Virus?

In X-Vengers #3, we get a good look at how hard it is to remain a hero to all during the Age of Revelation. For a team that gets bashed on and little to no support by outside powers, they still do whatever they can to help the world. Dani Moonstar is an incredible leader of the team, and brings the classic bout of imposter syndrome to the story. She has doubts of her being qualified to be the leader, but proves time and time again that she’s more than worthy.
The Writing
Jason Loo brings the thrilling story of the new team of Avengers, the X-Vengers, to an interesting ending. With Revelation on the cusps of causing a world wide attack, a mutated X-Virus killing off mutants, and the territories up in arms to defeat the opposite side, there’s high energy all around. That energy stays high, keeping you locked into the story, all the way to the very end.
The Art
X-Vengers has been very consistent in the high quality of the artwork throughout the three comic miniseries. In X-Vengers #3, the artists bring it home with their work in the excellent details, the vibrancy of the colors, and the fantastic lettering work. What I appreciate the most in the comic is the differing powersets in the big battle panels that made the story feel larger than life. This is where the details and the phenomenal coloring work showed the best. All in all, the artists did a superb job in this miniseries, and ending it on a very strong finish.
Final Thoughts
X-Vengers was one of the more powerful parts of X-Men: Age of Revelation that ended on a note that was thrilling, had plenty of action, and proved what it takes to be a hero.
Overall Grade – 9/10
