Violet is in full control of Sophie’s body and is out for revenge against the sorority sisters who killed her. Will there be any winners as friendships die and the lust for revenge takes over?

The Story:
Maytal cooks up an epic ending full of tragedy in this final issue of the mini-series. Sophie and Violet’s confrontation and fight for Sophie’s body comes to a head in a suffocating manner, which at times made me feel as though I was underwater, fighting for my own life as they were struggling. There are no happy endings sometimes, and I love how this story leans into that aspect, not letting anybody off the hook as Sophie now sits in jail. The teaser in the final pages alludes to the possibility of more with Violet, and I hope we see a continuation, as the book ends shockingly.
The Art and Letters:
Leila and Alex detail and color the artwork that leans into the suffocating feeling I felt as Sophie attempts to drown herself to stop Violet’s reign of terror. Leila captures the twisted and sinister vibe of Sophie as Violet is in control, slashing her way from panel to panel, exacting her revenge. Alex’s coloring is top-notch once more as we get split panels of Sophie being dragged down by demons in a world of blue despair. I cannot say enough about how Rob can capture the two tones of the girls through his lettering, allowing us to feel the various emotions that run high as they struggle.
Final Thoughts:
Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #5 wraps up this incredibly tragic tale within the Hyde Street world, as there are no winners in the quest for revenge, only losers. Maytal, Alex, Leila, and Rob bring about a flurry of emotions in this slasher tale while leaving the potential for more with these characters. This is a must-read for anybody who wants to dive into more horror-based comics!
