ROOK EXODUS #9:

In Rook Exodus #9, Rook is attempting to unite the remaining wardens against the betrayal of Better-World and the Bear Warden, who are working together nefariously to reclaim the powerful Warden helmets, while leaving Exodus to collapse under the weight of the broken World Engine.

It’s what you’d expect from human nature as the other Wardens have plans of their own, so while Rook is trying to essentially unite and lead, they would rather do their own thing, while Better-World plots their demise. Can he and Dire Wolf save Exodus and its Wardens or is this the beginning of the end for them all.

The Art:

What Fabok is able to do with these characters and this world is nothing short of astounding. It truly is a love letter to life and all the amazing things animals and humans alike can do.

In this issue, it’s all out battle between the Wardens and Fabok really captures all the different nuances of a very complicated storyline.

You can literally feel the energy, the passion, the love between father and daughter, and so much more. It’s a testament to Fabok and his gorgeous art.

The Writing:

This story has all the classic pieces of an action thriller with heartfelt subtext. The relationship between Dire Wolf and Bloodhound, the new Warden Stag who wants to avenge his wife, the flashbacks to Rook as a child – it truly has it all.

While in the background, Rook is trying to herd this group of Wardens to keep Exodus alive and keep them alive, but they all want to follow their own paths.

I’ve said it before, this book has so many incredible ties to real life, to our daily lives and all the hard choices we have to make every single day.

As the story goes, we finally find out more about the demise of the World Engine and why. And who wants all the humans off Exodus.

This series, the writing, the art, it just gets more compelling each and every issue that comes out.

Overall Grade: 10/10

Rook Exodus is one of my favorites to get picked up next by one of the streaming networks. It has everything you could ever want in a live-action or animated story. The heart, the chase, the twists and turns. And that’s all because of Johns and Fabok, who have created a remarkable series here!
