The Story

Ororo Munroe, who is a big target in the eyes of many characters, is on her hunt for Eēgūn, but doesn’t realize someone else is on the hunt for her. She hears someone approaching, and prepares herself for battle, despite not knowing what battle lays in front of her. To Ororo’s surprise, it’s a person she once considered a brother in a different life, a life before the Age of Revelation, Gambit.

Gambit, who’s gone through his own trials and tribulations(you can read all about it here!), is on the hunt for Ororo to find out what she did to Rogue Red. In the first issue of Rogue Storm, we see that Rogue Red and her team are on their way to take down Storm once and for all. Now, in the second issue, we get to see exactly what happened when the team finally reaches Storm.

Gambit may seem like the only battle Storm has to endure, but remember, there’s still a hunt for Eēgūn happening, and it seems the hunt isn’t one sided.

The Writing

Murewa Ayodele returns to continue this thrilling and emotional journey of Rogue and Storm in the Age of Revelation. I’ve always said that Ayodele is the perfect person to be writing for Storm, and this is further proof of that being true. In the Age of Revelation, Storm isn’t the same Ororo Munroe we all know. She’s gone through trauma that’s changed her. Her priorities have changed. She’s turned into someone who’s used to surviving one mission at a time. And yet, Ayodele is able to show that Storm is still in there somewhere, as we see her power, her bravery, her courage when faced with a war.

In Rogue Storm #2, you’ll see courageousness, you’ll see heartbreak, and you’ll see betrayal. There’s so much depth in the pages of the comic, and that’s all thanks to Murewa Ayodele.

The Art

With a storyline as powerful as Rogue Storm #2, you must have the artwork match the energy, and that’s exactly what we received. Roland Boschi, Neeraj Menon, and Travis Lanham go out of their way to bring something powerful and emotional that shows very clearly in the artwork.

The artist, Roland Boschi, give a perfect amount of detail to every page while contrasting some abstract factors. Neeraj Menon, who works on the colors, works well with contrasting colors that make the characters pop off the page. Travis Lanham always delivers when he handles the letters, and that’s what he did here. Lanham gave the words the emotion they needed to make you feel what the characters were experiencing. Together, the artists knocked it out of the park.

Final Thoughts

If you haven’t checked out the X-Men: Age of Revelation event, there’s no time like the present! Rogue Storm #2 is a fantastic part of the thrilling event. Murewa Ayodele made his mark in the event in a very big way, and the readers all benefited from it.

Overall Grade – 10/10
